Chapter 1046: Hunting
Infinity looked flat and meaningless. Looking up at the night sky was looking at infinity—the distance was vast and boundless, and thus it lost its meaning.
But regardless, this was infinity.
The infinity in the eyes of Mortals was like this, even more meaningless than non-infinity.
Because they couldn't comprehend how vast infinity truly was, couldn't comprehend how grand an infinitely large thing truly was.
Only when your observational ability reached a special degree, such that you could instantly distinguish the unbridgeable chasm between infinity and non-infinity, could you realize how great infinity truly was.
No matter how huge the number, be it trillions, quadrillions, googol, Graham's number, or Knuth's up-arrow notation, in front of infinity, they were no different from 0.
Because compared to infinity, they all had an 'infinitely large gap,' which in some sense could even form a strange equation.
But no matter what this young man thought, he could never know that behind that 'wall' was a battlefield he could never imagine.
There, the Demonic Prince and Li Qi were strangling the Demon of False Guidance.
“Impossible—” the Demon of False Guidance let out a cry of disbelief.
For two people to even make him flee was already impressive.
How could they make him unable to even escape?
But whether it was possible or not, it had already happened.
In the Demonic Prince's hands was the 'Buddha-Dharma.' Since the annihilation of Buddhism, there had never been such pure Buddha-Dharma. In the Demon of False Guidance's view, this Buddha-Dharma was even purer than that of the great Bodhisattvas, and even closer to the World Honored One Tathagata.
It was just that… the taste was still a bit off.
But no matter how off it was, its destructive power against the Demon of False Guidance was real.
The Demon of False Guidance posed many questions, but they were all refuted by the Buddha-Dharma.
This questioning and refutation were not conducted through language, but through a certain modification of the Universe to switch between offense and defense.
If a Mortal were here, he would experience many strange sensations.
These sensations certainly wouldn't be much fun.
In reality, it was a very painful feeling. The rules of the surroundings changed, then transformed into new appearances. Mortals here would be like sitting on a rocket, circling a planet, with the rocket having no handles or steering wheel—they could only resign themselves to Destiny, rushing forward!
Everyone would feel that premonition of being shattered to pieces, the alternation of day and night was as fast as the flickering of a slide show, and life seemed to be about to leave him immediately.
The rapid alternation of darkness and light would make Mortals' eyes ache unbearably. In the intermittent darkness, many splendid lights would continuously collide, transforming from incomplete to complete as if in transit, making one feel as if they were seeing a rotating galaxy in a trance, drawing a streak of fire in the air, the scenery hazy.
The growth and changes of all things were like wisps of mist, constantly changing colors, then growing, stretching, withering, and decaying. I saw massive buildings rising from the ground, indistinct and fleeting like a dream, everything melting and flowing before people's eyes.
However, if one's observational ability was strong enough, they would see that these changes were actually 'a form of reality,' which then transformed into 'a new form that refutes this form,' and then produced 'another form,' followed by 'a refutation of this form.'
Such constant switching and ever-changing possibilities, even the branches within spacetime, were undergoing this level of change.
If one had to describe this ability, perhaps the most spectacular scene Mortals had witnessed was when powerful individuals fought, 'usurping' the definition rights of the Reality Universe with their Domain, achieving 'approximate invincibility' within that Domain.
But now, such Domain-like tricks were nothing here, because what they created was not a Domain, but the entire spacetime changed because of it.
Layers upon layers of heavens were opened up by this battle. Each heaven was a question, and the method to destroy a heaven was the 'answer' to that question.
A single spacetime was merely a superficial manifestation here. The true essence of the battle was the multi-layered, continuously created and destroyed 'heavens.'
The vibrations caused by high-speed Transmigration through time made all existence tenuous. Great Powers moved like gravity itself through the interwoven gaps in matter.
Finally, the Demon of False Guidance found a flaw.
He was ecstatic that he had finally escaped the Demonic Prince's entanglement and rushed towards that flaw.
There, the battle would shift from 'Buddha-Dharma' to the 'Reality Universe.'
The Demonic Prince's battle in the mental Domain, in which the Demonic Dao excelled, finally ended. He would return to reality for a bayonet-style close combat.
In the Reality Universe, the Demon of False Guidance had more room to escape.
“Is that so?” Li Qi appeared beside the Demon of False Guidance.
The Demon of False Guidance didn't say anything and immediately distorted reality, preparing to leave.
In a normal second-rank battle, if one side wants to run, it's basically impossible to stop them, because everyone has a sea of backup plans, and there's always one you can't defend against.
Therefore, many situations require ganging up. Ganging up has the advantage that for all your backup plans, the opponent might have a way to counter them.
The Demon of False Guidance had already discovered that in the mental Domain, Buddha-Dharma could suppress his escape.
So he came to the Reality Universe.
Then he realized something else—
What the hell!
Li Qi actually suppressed all his interpretations in the Reality Universe!
Impossible, absolutely impossible!
He had already exclaimed 'impossible' three times today.
But that's just how things were.
The Demonic Prince, relying on Buddha-Dharma, his understanding of the Demonic Dao, and his control over Karma, suppressed the Demon of False Guidance in the purely mental Domain.
The Demon of False Guidance fled to the Reality Universe, attempting to escape within the Reality Universe.
But Li Qi stopped him.
Two people, sealing off two paths.
Actually, at first, they had considered using the Desire Realm and the Heavens of the Formless Realm to achieve this suppression.
But now they could keep that trump card for later.
Because they alone could suppress second-rank Demonic Overlords! They grew up under the manipulation of Heavenly Demons, and they understood the Demonic Dao's methods so well that their current specialized training was all aimed at the Demonic Dao.
The battle progressed extremely quickly, analogous to high-speed skiing.
This is a sport, a race against man, environment, and time, where a person slides down on a sled at speeds of hundreds of kilometers per hour.
The winning time is one minute, thirty seconds, and three hundredths.
The time for an unknown, last-place competitor is one minute, thirty-two seconds, and twenty-five hundredths.
This means that the difference between a champion and mediocrity is only two seconds.
From a world champion admired by all to an unknown nobody, there is only a two-second difference.
And in the battles of Great Powers, it would be even faster; the difference between life and death would be less than an instant.
The battle ended.
The Demon of False Guidance fell, his possibilities sealed within the 'wall,' which stood in the center of the Universe.
If someone could Transmigrate through parallel Universes and travel through different spacetimes, they would find that no matter which spacetime they arrived in, this 'wall' would exist.
No matter which spacetime, this wall exists. Similarly, no matter which spacetime, the Demon of False Guidance can only remain within the wall.
His possibilities had been sealed.
Things happened suddenly. From Li Qi and the Demonic Prince's departure until now, less than five minutes had passed.
But they had already set off for the next location.
Repeating the trick—
The Yin Demon, fell.
The Demonic Prince's Buddha-Dharma and Karma, and Li Qi's understanding of the Reality Universe's foundation, firmly suppressed the powers of the second-rank Demonic Dao cultivators. They didn't even use their true trump cards.
The Heavens of the Formless Realm and the Desire Realm remained in their pockets.
The second five minutes passed, and the Samadhi Demon was executed.
At this point, the other second-rank Demonic Dao cultivators finally reacted.
They immediately began to unite, gathering together to jointly resist Li Qi and the Demonic Prince's attack, even wanting to encircle and kill the two of them in return.
However, after gathering for an instant, they immediately split up and fled in all directions.
Because they had already sensed that the tide of battle had been unbalanced from the moment the Demon of False Guidance fell.
The second-rank Demonic Overlords completed their communication in that instant.
“Li Qi and Shang Fan, impossible!”
“Nothing is impossible, they have already done it.”
“Is it still too late to escape now?”
“We can only try our best.”
This was an incredible feat. How could two people encircle and kill the Demon of False Guidance and the Yin Demon?
Since the beginning of time, very few have been able to achieve such things.
The disparity in strength required for this was simply too immense.
For example, the disparity in national power between the United States and Afghanistan is immeasurable, even reaching hundreds or thousands of times, creating a generational gap.
So, did the United States effortlessly annihilate Afghanistan?
No, it even almost dragged itself down.
Under what circumstances could it be annihilated?
For instance, if Ultraman descended, or if an extraterrestrial from Planet X or Alpha Centauri suddenly appeared and directly launched a dimensionality reduction attack.
Otherwise, even if the United States fought Afghanistan, it wouldn't achieve an overwhelming swift victory, because among so many citizens, someone would always find a way to survive, and in such a vast territory, there would always be a place for people to live.
Similarly, are the second-rank cultivators' thoughts and escape routes fewer than citizens? Is their Domain smaller than a country's territory?
Naturally, to completely seal off all possibilities, it's like this: even if there's a hundredfold difference among second-rank cultivators, and absolutely no possibility of winning head-on, it's still difficult to achieve direct killing.
But Li Qi and the Demonic Prince did it.
This finally panicked the second-rank Demonic Dao cultivators.
They gathered, then dispersed and fled.
Because even the second-rank Demonic Dao cultivators had detected the fall of the Yin Demon and the Demon of False Guidance, which meant… the great Bodhisattvas of Buddhism were certainly not blind.
The Bodhisattvas descended.
The Golden Monkey had also rushed out, swinging his staff.
Taizi Changqin looked displeased, seemingly annoyed by Li Qi's sudden attack. After all, Li Qi hadn't discussed it with them; they had even learned about it along with the other second-rank Demonic Dao cultivators.
But regardless, he still came, along with Zhu Fengdan.
Just as the second-rank Demonic Dao cultivators began to flee.
Li Qi and the Demonic Prince also began their pursuit.
This was a slaughter, because of Li Qi's and the Demonic Prince's accumulation over the years, because of their current power, and with the help of top second-rank cultivators like the Golden Monkey, the second-rank Demonic Dao cultivators, after three consecutive failures, completely lost the power to confront them head-on.
At first, the Demonic Dao could even suppress Li Qi, but the death of the Demon of Karma led to Li Qi's comeback.
In the second great battle, the Defiled Demon was shattered, the Heart Demon failed to Breakthrough and ultimately fell, and two more second-rank Demonic Dao cultivators were lost.
This was the third time. The Demon of False Guidance and the Yin Demon were ambushed and killed by Li Qi and the Demonic Prince in an extraordinary manner.
The Demonic Dao lost a total of five second-rank cultivators.
They had completely lost their qualification to contend on the front lines.
Both tactically and strategically, they were utterly defeated.
Ultimately, it was because they underestimated Li Qi and the Demonic Prince too much, underestimating the speed of their progress.
The Demon of Karma's death was because they never even considered that the Demonic Prince could control Karma. The Heart Demon's death was because the Heart Demon believed he could defeat Li Qi.
And the deaths of the Demon of False Guidance and the Yin Demon were also because they were confident that Li Qi and the Demonic Prince couldn't forcefully kill someone of the same rank.
In other words, the reason things developed to this point was because they thought… Li Qi and the Demonic Prince couldn't create miracles.
Indeed, miracles are rare in this world.
Especially for second-rank cultivators.
They can manipulate probability and change history, naturally understanding the essence of so-called 'miracles.' They are more inclined to believe that the world is mundane and unremarkable.
Perhaps it's because they've seen too much, and know that too many so-called miracles are actually unremarkable events.
The second-rank cultivators' vision is too broad; under the law of large numbers, what they see is ordinary.
The world will eventually return to normalcy.
This is natural. Many years ago, Li Qi also thought this way. He felt that this Universe was too cruel, with no surprises whatsoever.
There are no miracles. If something is a certain way, that's how it should be. So-called Heaven-Defying changes to Destiny are because you inherently possess the possibility of Heaven-Defying changes, you merely chose that possibility, and perhaps someone was arranging it behind the scenes.
This Universe is just so ordinary, without so many astonishing things happening.
But…
Who said miracles couldn't be created?
Did not the World Honored One Tathagata, with a second-rank body, resist the Heavenly Demons and attain Dao under the Bodhi Tree? Is this not a miracle?
Thus, the second-rank Demonic Dao cultivators lost to a miracle.
They continued to flee.
But soon, Karma caught up to them.
They indeed fled quickly, but no one could escape Karma.
Divine Ability cannot contend with Karma.
The Demonic Prince clasped his hands together.
Karma descended.
“Knowing all Karma as a dream, sounds as echoes, beings as shadows, all Dharmas as illusions, yet not destroying the Karma of Destiny; knowing the vastness of all Karma, understanding that all Dharmas are uncreated, practicing the uncreated Dao without ever pausing.”
“All vast lands, like shadows, like illusions, like flames, their origin unseen in the ten directions, nor do they come or go. Destruction and creation cycle repeatedly, never ceasing in the Void Realm, all sustained by pure vows and vast Karma.”
The Demonic Overlords were all entangled in evil Karma!
