Chapter 1075: Closing remarks
The long journey of the Myriad Dao has finally concluded.
I have to say, this book was truly difficult to write, even feeling like a thankless task.
Many people said this was me injecting my personal opinions, but if you read it to the end, you'll find that if it is 'personal opinions,' it's a collection of many people's personal opinions, after all, everyone's Universe is different, and what everyone sees and feels is also different.
Therefore, their Dao is also different.
This is 'Dao Conflict'!
Let me give an example.
For instance, during the Human-Shaman War, Li Qi chose blood sacrifice, and in the Holy Flame World, Li Qi instigated civil war.
Some people felt that Li Qi's character collapsed, that Li Qi wouldn't do such a thing.
In reality, blood sacrifice indeed should not be done; if blood sacrifice were acceptable, what would become of us?
But it is precisely because it should not be done that 'should be done' is highlighted.
Blood sacrifice is actually a kind of 'martyrdom,' meaning, for a more noble goal, I am willing to sacrifice my purity.
This clearly had a huge impact on Li Qi.
This concerns a major transformation of Li Qi later on.
Is Dao a restraint on oneself, or the entire manifestation of one's actions?
This is what Li Qi and Liu Junyi mutually highlighted for each other.
Liu Junyi strictly demanded himself to meet the standards of a gentleman; his every action conformed to the requirements of a gentleman, and he would absolutely never commit acts of evil Human Dao methods, not even if he died.
However, Li Qi went against Shaman Dao and used evil methods.
So, between Li Qi and Liu Junyi, who is the true seeker of Dao?
Ultimately, Li Qi found the answer, which is: 'It is people who pursue Dao, not Dao that binds people.' The evil methods he used were also for this reason.
If he binds himself with rules and regulations, then is he pursuing Dao, or has he become a slave to 'others' Dao'? Has he become a fanatic of a creed?
Perhaps it's a bit obscure, please forgive me.
However, the plot of the Myriad Dao Long Journey has never collapsed; all the plots are meaningful, and I hope everyone can think carefully when they read some conflicting parts.
Besides that, many other plots also have such small arrangements.
After all, novels are not randomly generated; every word of a novel is typed by the author, and every frame of an animation is hand-drawn.
So, whatever appears is already predetermined; if something useless appears, it means the author is useless.
However, the next book won't be as complex.
The Myriad Dao Long Journey has truly exhausted my mind, including thinking about the abilities of various Great Powers which gave me a headache; there's really nothing left to write, my imagination has been pushed to its limit, and many people even skipped parts.
Because I always thought, if the manifestation of a Great Power is always 'punching to destroy a wall,' 'punching to destroy the Universe,' 'punching to destroy the multiverse,' and finally all descriptions devolve into 'even the Great Dao was annihilated,' then it would be too uninteresting.
The reason a Great Power is a Great Power must be because of sufficient expressive power, and this expressive power must not merely be an increase in the scope of destruction.
But I feel that to write about Great Powers, one cannot write them as super-powered Mortals, not a battle of throwing terms, but to truly write out the power and scope of a Great Power.
How should Li Qi's Comprehension Ability be expressed? How can a Great Power's layout reflect 'greatness'?
Otherwise, if the performance doesn't keep up with the setting, it becomes a clown.
For example, if we set aside these lofty settings of so-called Grand Luo, Dao Fruit, etc., and transpose the motivations of these Great Powers into urban novels.
Let's compare 'multiverse' to 'Gotham City.'
And 'mana' to 'money.'
And 'Dao Fruit' to 'company.'
If the motivations of Great Powers are still valid, then Great Powers are nothing more than merchants in disguise.
Moreover, the Dao Conflict is also like this.
These Great Powers cannot lack their own worldview; they cannot 'default' to the world being primitive, materialistic, and what is seen and perceived.
If this were the case, the values they pursue, the things they pursue, would essentially be the same thing.
This thing, in the jungle, could be an army; in the city, it could be money.
In other words, it's not an exaggeration to say that this group of people are fellow travelers.
In such a situation, wouldn't the conflict just be infighting among brothers? How could it be called a Dao Conflict?
The so-called group portraits, the complexity of characters, when broken down and analyzed, are simply 'people with different worldviews.'
A group of people with completely different worldviews, values, and philosophies of life; their collisions can only reflect complexity.
And if a character's worldview and values are completely the same, entirely derived from the author himself, a manifestation of the author's own thoughts, then from my perspective, I don't think it counts as complex; instead, it's very flat and singular.
In this way, no matter how many characters are written, they won't become complex.
The grand goals they pursue in the setting can be replaced with any setting; by slightly shifting the setting, one can see the 'thinness' hidden beneath the magnificent words and setting.
I don't want this to happen, so I've read a lot of things to describe a group of people with completely different worldviews, and I don't know if I succeeded or not; I hope I don't make a fool of myself.
The next book will still be of the Xianxia genre, but this time it won't involve too much about consciousness.
I plan to write a 'Sword Hero' type.
A burst of righteousness! A three-foot sharp blade!
It won't be too deep or too philosophical, but will focus on crafting the plot and story, rather than narrating the Dao.
Of course, ancient style is still indispensable, and I won't write it as a face-slapping type.
I want to write more about chivalry and Immortal Qi.
Everyone can look forward to it.
The new book will probably be released around mid-September.
Before that, let me promote the group; I will post the first chapter of the new book in the group for everyone to comment on.
Group number 815632723.
If you have any settings you don't understand or plots you can't grasp about this book, you can come here and ask me; these few days after the completion will be Q&A sessions.
Thus, I thank all my readers for their kind support, and thank you for reading this far.
See you in the next book. (End of this chapter)
