Chapter 731: Burning rabbit brain
In Dakini Heaven, within White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva’s Dao field, Li Qi stared intently at White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva, behind him was Shen Shuibi, who was dazed and lost in thought.
Shen Shuibi had personally witnessed Celestial Pole.
White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva, however, smiled and said, “Don’t rush. Don’t you want to know why?”
“Why?” Li Qi asked.
At the same time, he had already formed a hand seal. If the answer wasn't good, he would have to call for help.
White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva transformed from her fox form back into her beautiful human form.
This was a beauty comparable to a Heavenly Demon; in fact, merely her appearance caused Li Qi’s hostility to decrease.
Almost uncontrollably, Li Qi felt his heart soften, and his hands naturally relaxed.
This forced him to recite a mantra in his heart to strengthen his resolve.
The beautiful form of White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva languidly rested her face on her hand, shifting from a seated position to a relaxed prone one. “This is merely a reward, with no ill intent. It’s an advance payment for you. Look, aren’t both of you able to gain something from this?”
As she spoke, Li Qi subconsciously examined how the recent performance of Divine Ability had helped him.
Then, to his surprise, he found that it truly had helped!
The Snow Dust Whisk from earlier, where the nine tails transformed into infinite tails, theoretically had a limited total amount of cultivation Qi it could whisk out. Just like the snowflake shape drawn by the koch curve, its area is limited.
But at that moment, for Li Qi, these cultivation Qi were infinite, because the koch curve’s perimeter is infinitely large.
The reason is also very simple: the koch curve belongs to a 1.26-dimensional figure.
Yes, 1.26, such a strange dimension.
It lies between one-dimension (d = 1) and two-dimensions (d = 2), but there is no measurement belonging to 1.26 dimensions in real life. However… a Dao Pursuer can achieve it.
Because this dimension is logically valid, meaning it is valid within the ‘Dao’, powerful cultivators can, on the foundation of the ‘Dao’, forcibly create a reality that conforms to this point.
1.26 dimensions are greater than 1 dimension, so measuring it with a 1-dimensional line segment yields infinity. It is also less than 2 dimensions, so measuring it with a 2-dimensional area yields 0.
Using 1-dimensional length, it is infinitely large; using 2-dimensional area, it is infinitely small.
The koch curve is a curve, so it can be easily argued that it is not one-dimensional, because no matter how much it is magnified, no straight lines or smooth curves will appear. This indicates that it has more than one dimension, and it fundamentally does not contain these one-dimensional geometric structures. However, the koch curve is also not two-dimensional, because it does not occupy area.
It exists in a world between two dimensions.
If this Divine Ability is used, when facing an opponent weaker than oneself, one can achieve ‘infinite power’, and at the same time, due to its infinitely small nature, one can evade attacks from opponents stronger than oneself.
Li Qi, existing at this level, would be “infinitely large” to weaker individuals and “infinitely small” to stronger individuals.
This is the marvelous use of dimension, an essential difference.
Through one performance of Divine Ability, both Li Qi and Shen Shuibi benefited greatly.
Especially Shen Shuibi; she might even find the opportunity for Rank Four.
If this was a reward, then this reward was far too generous. What kind of ‘advance payment’ could reach this level?
“Reward… a reward for what?” Li Qi asked.
“The Buddhist Disciple Sariputra has already reincarnated, but was disturbed midway, causing his true spirit to be lost and now its whereabouts are unknown. I want you to find Sariputra,” White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva said.
Upon hearing this, Li Qi immediately felt relieved.
He wasn't afraid of the other party being direct; he was only afraid of them scheming in the dark.
Since White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva was willing to speak directly, it was still fine.
However, Li Qi did not agree, but instead said, “This matter has nothing to do with me. Besides, Sariputra’s reincarnation was disturbed by someone, so don’t just say ‘by someone’. Who could interfere with a Buddhist Disciple’s reincarnation? It must be a Heavenly Demon at work. You must be targeting my Physique, which is being watched by Heavenly Demons, hoping to use this to find the missing Sariputra, aren’t you?”
Li Qi was not at all polite: “If that’s the case, please forgive me for not being able to accept. Even if I’ve already received this reward, I cannot accept it. This matter has nothing to do with me. The Demonic Dao has even allied with Shaman Dao and is currently confronting the Human Dao. How could I possibly interfere with the Heavenly Demon’s affairs?”
“Is that so? Then—” White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva lightly tapped her finger.
A 5th Grade Lama in a black robe and tall hat suddenly appeared here.
Jing Buyan’s Senior Brother?! That Buddhist, a 5th Grade Lama from the Tsongkhapa lineage of esoteric Buddhism, who practices Dual Cultivation of both Buddha and Demon.
Of course, while it's said to be of the Tsongkhapa lineage, it actually has a strong connection with Dakini Heaven. At the very least, Jing Buyan himself possesses the method of Yaksha Heart-Eating, which is a distinguishing feature of Dakini Heaven.
“Benefactor, do you still remember this humble monk? Do you still remember that you owe this humble monk a Karma?” This 5th Grade Lama smiled and said. (For details, see Chapter 536)
Li Qi took a deep breath: “Of course I know… I owe Great Master a great favor.”
“Then this humble monk has a request. Please, Benefactor, lend a hand and retrieve Sariputra. Can you? This is not too difficult for Benefactor, after all, the Heavenly Demon will not interfere with you,” the 5th Grade Lama before him said.
Li Qi sighed.
Entangled in Karma.
No wonder the reclusive faction of the Dao Gate emphasized not getting involved in Karma, because if they didn't, let alone true freedom, they wouldn't even have freedom in human interactions.
When you save a person, whether that person saves others or kills others in the future, you will bear a portion of the Karma.
He couldn't run fast enough, let alone save them.
But there was no choice…
Karma is a very mysterious thing. If he refused this today, he would likely encounter some metaphysical matters in the future.
Li Qi, who had mastered the ability of Karma threads at Rank Five, naturally understood this.
So he nodded and said, “Since Great Master has spoken… then after this matter, I will be clear with Buddhism.”
“That is natural.” The other party clasped his hands together towards Li Qi, performing a Buddhist greeting.
Li Qi didn't say much more. He looked at White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva and said, “Bodhisattva may be setting up a grand scheme, but I still have to say, it’s better to use these methods less often.”
But White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva walked down, approached Li Qi, stretched out her head, face to face, her nose almost touching Li Qi’s.
Li Qi originally wanted to avoid it, but if he did, his Aura would be a step weaker, so he forced himself to stand still and meet her gaze at close range.
White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva, in her beautiful form, looked at Li Qi and said to him, “Li Qi, oh Li Qi, when you came to me before, were you aiming to build a good relationship?”
“What we do is nothing but the same thing. When you wanted to use me to win the vanguard battle, you should have anticipated today’s outcome.”
“Jing Buyan’s matter is trivial, done casually, but you yourself must also understand that our relationship is fundamentally just this, isn’t it? Being clear with each other is already the best outcome. If we continue to be entangled, not only will we not be clear, but we will also become enemies.”
White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva’s beautiful form wore a smile, breathtakingly beautiful.
Li Qi was indeed breathtakingly affected, but not by her beauty.
He sighed, cupped his hands, and said, “Junior understands. I’ll take my leave now. Regarding Sariputra, I will find a way.”
“That’s good. Being clear is a good thing; don’t overthink it.” She reached out and touched Li Qi’s nose, then her body suddenly shrank, transforming into a small pink and white fox, emitting a charming yelp as she hopped and ran away.
Li Qi sighed and turned to look at Shen Shuibi, who was enveloped by his two-dimensional protective wall.
The rabbit’s eyes were now red.
He could feel her Qi and blood boiling, and she was mobilizing her cultivation Qi to serve as energy reserves for her thoughts.
In other words, she was completely immersed in high-intensity deduction.
Li Qi shook his head slightly, sat down beside her, and became her Dharma Protector.
At this moment, even Li Qi couldn't help her. Since she had already found inspiration, she naturally needed to continue thinking.
It was enough to be her Dharma Protector, to prevent her from being disturbed.
In this Dao field, there was no one else, and Shen Shuibi completely ignored her surroundings, lost in thought.
She had just… personally witnessed ‘Celestial Pole’.
But was that ‘Celestial Pole’?
It was hard to say; she couldn't make a judgment.
Because, if the entire Universe was Celestial Pole, then how could the point of ‘all stars revolving around it’ be established? Celestial Pole should be the ‘0, 0’ in the coordinate System, not the entire coordinate System.
If the entire Universe were taken as different coordinates, finding ‘absolute stillness’ this way would simply be cheating.
The Universe is the collection of all things. As long as there is such a ‘collection’, it inevitably involves self-referential problems, which is the incompleteness of logic.
Can a thing prove itself solely by itself?
The Universe contains everything, so does the Universe contain the Universe?
If the Universe is ‘Celestial Pole’, then does motion itself still have meaning?
For example, the Universe is like a book that has written all books.
A book, on which all books in the world are written, then has it written itself?
If it has written itself, then is this self that wrote itself not writing a third self? This immediately falls into an infinite loop.
If it has not written itself, then this Universe is incomplete, because… if the Universe does not contain the Universe, then where did the Universe come from?
The core of this problem is whether a thing can prove itself solely by itself?
There must always be something outside the Universe, otherwise how can the Universe prove its existence?
For a logic to exist, there must be something outside of that logic, because by itself, that logic cannot prove its own existence. Then, according to this logic, does the new logic that includes the existence of this logic also include the new logic itself?
If this infinite nesting continues, one will find that logic itself cannot be self-referential, meaning: the foundation of logic does not exist.
Which is to say, all logic is a castle in the air, meaning: the incompleteness of logic.
No matter how hard one tries, such a complete System cannot be achieved.
This not only had a significant impact on mathematical philosophy and logic, but also posed a major challenge to the foundation of the existence of the ‘Dao’.
The moment you draw a circle, you have already divided it into inside and outside.
When you draw a circle, it proves the existence of something outside the circle.
And the existence outside the circle means that the circle itself does not contain everything; it is not a ‘complete circle’.
A concept must have boundaries, and when you define its boundaries, there must be something else beyond its boundaries, thus leading to the absolute inability to deduce a true universal set.
A thing cannot sustain its own existence solely by itself, so it must be supported by something external. Then the external has its own external, and that external has its own external.
Ultimately, it is found that logic itself cannot stand alone.
Then, if even logic cannot stand alone, can this world stand alone?
The revelation of the incompleteness of logic is also the revelation that either there is no logic at all, or all existing logic is wrong.
But if all logic is wrong, then how should you and I conduct ourselves?
This world, it is not real.
Or rather, humans can never perceive the true reality of the world, because cognition must have boundaries.
If this entire Universe were taken as ‘Celestial Pole’, then the boundaries of the world would be delineated by Celestial Pole, leading to a series of problems.
For a sufficiently powerful logical System, consistency and completeness cannot both be achieved.
Regarding this, the Dao Gate has its own solution.
That is, to hypothetically assume an ‘Ultimate Great Dao’.
The Ultimate Great Dao is ‘self-evident’; the Ultimate Great Dao does not need to prove itself.
Thus, relying on the solid ‘Ultimate Great Dao’ to provide the ‘external’ needed by logic.
Then, everything falls into place, and logic can complete itself.
But the essence has not changed—
Logic cannot prove itself, so there will absolutely be something unprovable.
When Celestial Pole acts as the Universe itself, it is like trying to calculate the sum of an infinite series by summation, but ultimately one will only find that the sum itself is also infinite.
This cyclical characteristic gives the problem a very unique quality, subverting intuitive understanding and cognition of the concept of infinity.
This is a self-referential loop. If such a loop were taken as Celestial Pole…
It’s a trap.
Definitely a trap.
If he hadn't realized this, it would certainly leave a huge flaw in his cultivation. Once pointed out in the future, the collapse of his Dao would be a matter of course.
But… what if it wasn't a trap, but a reminder?
As a trap, this was too crude. Shen Shuibi knew she was just a Rank Five with relatively broad knowledge. If a Rank Three wanted to set a trap for her, using such a low-Rank method would be truly unseemly…
Therefore, the key to Celestial Pole lies in ‘relativity’ rather than ‘absoluteness’.
An absolute Celestial Pole would necessarily not be Celestial Pole, because Celestial Pole, as the zero point at the center of the coordinate System and the center of all movement, must be relative to other things.
If Celestial Pole is not relative to other things, then Celestial Pole cannot be considered Celestial Pole.
But at this point, another problem arises.
If Celestial Pole is relative to other things, then are others Celestial Pole?
If viewed from the perspective of relativity, the other party must also be able to be Celestial Pole.
The rabbit’s brain was burning.
Celestial Pole… is it absolute, or relative? (End of this chapter)
